Report on the Nishnawbe Aski Nation Education Strategic Planning Forum

The Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Education Strategic Planning Forum was held March 21-23, 2007 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The objective was to provide current context to the education issues and challenges facing the First Nations of NAN by hearing from the federal and provincial education authorities on their plans to support First Nation education, to receive updates on NAN initiatives, and most importantly, to solicit the input and direction from the NAN educators and community members.

Nishnawbe Aski Education Committee is an experienced, dedicated and representative group of Aboriginal educators who are committed to working cooperatively to provide advice and direction on education issues to the political leadership of NAN.

Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) is an Aboriginal political organization representing 49 First Nation communities within James Bay Treaty 9 territory and the Ontario portions of Treaty 5.
