These narratives collected from Elders Elijah Albany, Juliet Beardy, Jemima Gray, Gabriel Kamenawatamin, Bertha Mamakeesic, and Thadius Oskineegish provide information to frontline workers and the public on Oji-Cree menÛªs and womenÛªs traditional practices that enabled the Oji-Cree people to be strong in the past. Careful reading of these accounts may supply insights into developing programs and strategies that deal with ways to heal the Nishnawbe Aski Nation communities in the present and keep the Oji-Cree people healthy in the future.
