These Oji-Cree legends told by the elders were collected from northwestern Ontario. They were transcribed from the original Oji-Cree and later translated into English. Attempts have been made to retain the authenticity of both versions while ensuring their readability.

Evelyn Baxter is a freelance Oji-Cree translator and interpreter from Ogoki, Ontario.

Andrew Anderson, Troy Peters Suggashie, and Leon Keeper were high school students from the NAN communities in northwestern Ontario.
